Often our patients are on regular medications – either for prevention of disease (e.g. worming treatment) or treatment of disease (e.g. painkillers for arthritis). It is important we re-examine these patients regularly, just as people on repeat prescriptions will be re-checked by their own doctor. Over time, doses may change, or side effects may appear that may not always be obvious to people seeing their pet every day. Therefore, it is our standard procedure to ask for a recheck at least every 6 months, depending on your pet’s needs. This is designed to keep your pet as healthy as possible and is also a requirement from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Please give us two working days’ notice for repeat prescriptions, so we can order the medication and get your prescription ready for you. If you do forget to order your pets prescription we will do everything we can to try and provide what is needed but unfortunately we can’t keep all medications in stock so this may not always be possible.
Werrington Vets are able to provide written prescription to registered clients. If requesting a written prescription please take into account the time it takes for the medication to be ordered and arrive so as your pet doesn’t miss any doses.
